FURNITURE SOLUTIONS

Honeycomb panels are extremely versatile semi-finished products that can solve countless technical problems and improve the fir resistance of the products they are used in. When design and regulations set stringent requirements, for example for furniture for the shipbuilding and rail transport sectors, they outperform any other alternative on the market.

Versatility of open-cell panels

Composite panels with aluminium honeycomb cores are semi-finished products designed to significantly improve the typical performance of the materials traditionally used in the furniture industry and in furniture in general.

First of all, thanks to its excellent mechanical properties, this type of panel makes it possible to produce very thin, planar and robust components, which are impossible to obtain – for example – with chipboard or plywood and full thickness medium density fibreboard. Despite the very low thicknesses involved, components such as hinges or handles can be attached to the panel on a permanent basis, benefiting weight and design.

Multi-layer solutions

If the thicknesses are not a design constraint, but rather extra-large elements are needed (such as large doors or doors for particularly large wardrobes), it is possible to use a combination of thin panels in made of medium density fibreboard alternating with sheets of aluminium honeycomb. This type of layering allows the insertion of perfectly fastened deep inserts, despite the presence of large internal weight-reduction cavities (honeycomb cells).

As an alternative to medium density fibreboard, other materials can be used, such as – for example – oxide and magnesium chloride sheets, which can be perfectly processed with normal wood industry equipment but are non-combustible and therefore preferable whenever non-flammable materials are required.
